Beppu Beach Sandbath
Beppu Beach Sand Bath (Beppu Kaihin Sunayu) is a municipal public hot spring located within a park in Beppu City, Oita Prefecture. It is inside Shoningahama Park next to the Beppu International Tourist Port. Here, you can lie down in the sand while looking out at the sea, and staff will cover you with sand warmed by hot spring heat, allowing you to enjoy a sand bath experience. The sand, heated by natural hot spring sources, is praised for warming you from the core. Relax for about 15 minutes while listening to the sound of waves and watching luxury cruise ships pass by. By the time you emerge, your whole body can feel detoxed, and you may feel lighter as you stand up. It has also earned a two-star rating in the Michelin Green Guide Japan. After paying the bathing fee, you receive a yukata for bathing; change clothes, lie down in the sand, and a sand attendant will come to cover you with warm sand. Afterward, you rinse off the sand in the showers, so be sure to bring a towel. Rentals are also available. Enjoy this rare and memorable sand bath experience here. Access to Beppu Beach Sand Bath is about a 3-minute walk from JR Beppu Daigaku Station.
