Ogura Chicken Namban Restaurant Segashira Store

Ogura Setogashira is a well-known, privately run Western-style restaurant. Miyazaki’s famous local dish “chicken nanban” is strongly associated with Ogura as its birthplace; created in 1965, it became the restaurant’s top menu item the following year and has remained a signature ever since. Besides chicken nanban, you can also enjoy hayashi rice, hamburger curry, ginger pork, fried shrimp, champon, chawanmushi, and kids’ meals at reasonable prices. Although it’s a large family-restaurant-style place, it is very popular and lines are common. Ogura operates three stores: the main store, Setogashira, and Sadowara. (A Nobeoka shop shares the roots but is a separate, noren-wake restaurant.) Access: about a 15-minute walk (888 m) from JR Nichinan Line / JR Nippo Main Line “Miyazaki Station.” Get off at Miyazaki Kotsu bus stop “Higashi-Setogashira” and it’s right there. By car, about 12 minutes (approx. 6.5 km) from Miyazaki Expressway “Miyazaki IC” via Route 220.
