Ogura Chicken Namban Restaurant Main Store

Ogura Main Store is a popular independently run Western-style restaurant in Miyazaki. Miyazaki’s best-known local gourmet dish is “Chicken Nanban,” and this restaurant is considered the place where it originated. Ogura’s signature Chicken Nanban was created in 1965, and by the following year—after it was officially introduced as a menu item—it had become the restaurant’s most popular dish, remaining so to this day. Of course, beyond Chicken Nanban, you can also enjoy items like hayashi rice, hamburger steak curry, ginger pork, fried shrimp, and affordable children’s plates. It’s an essential gourmet stop for Miyazaki sightseeing. Because it’s extremely popular, expect to line up. “Ogura” operates three shops: the main store, Segashira store, and Sadowara store. A shop in Nobeoka shares the same roots but is a separate restaurant established through a noren-division. Access: by public transportation, it’s about a 15-minute walk from JR Miyazaki Station (West Exit). From Miyazaki Kotsu bus stops such as “Bonbelta Tachibana-mae,” “Nomura Shoken-mae,” or “Carino Miyazaki-mae,” it’s about a 2–3 minute walk.
