Miyazaki City Phoenix Zoo

Miyazaki City Phoenix Zoo is a zoo within the Phoenix Seagaia Resort, Miyazaki’s flagship integrated resort. Opened in 1971, it is a long-established nature zoo located on a coastal hill in northeastern Miyazaki with views of the Pacific. The zoo keeps about 100 species and 1,200 animals, including Asian elephants, chimpanzees, and Chilean flamingos. In summer, there are also seasonal attractions such as a lazy river pool and an amusement area, making it an ideal spot for family trips. A resort circulator shuttle bus operates, making it convenient to travel between hotels, tennis/golf facilities, hot springs, and more. Access: by public transportation, take the Seagaia-bound bus from Miyazaki Airport (about 30 minutes) and get off right there. From JR Miyazaki Station, it’s about 15 minutes by taxi, or take a bus from the Miyakoh City bus stop area via Tachibana-dori and get off at “Phoenix Shizen Dobutsuen.” By car, it’s about 30 minutes from Miyazaki Expressway “Miyazaki IC” via the Hitotsuba Road South Line and Route 11, or about 3 minutes after exiting at Hitotsuba Road “Seagaia IC.” It’s also convenient from Higashi-Kyushu Expressway “Saito IC.”
