Minato Sakai Exchange Center is a transportation and tourism hub that gathers many services in one place. The “Oki Ticket Counter” sells tickets for high-speed boats and ferries connecting the mainland (Sakaiminato) with the Oki Islands: Okinoshima (Saigo Port), Ama Town (Hishiura Port), Nishinoshima Town (Beppu Port), and Chibu Village (Kurii Port). It’s an essential route for locals and also very useful for tourists. The co-located “Sakaiminato Tourist Information Center” provides information on local shops, hot springs, and sightseeing spots. At the conveyor-belt sushi restaurant “Tairyomaru,” you can enjoy seasonal Sea of Japan seafood delivered directly from Sakaiminato Fishing Port. The “Oki Tourism Souvenir Center” is a convenient shop for local gifts. The 2nd floor is the ferry terminal, and nearby there are PR/event-like spaces and tourist information displays. The 3rd floor has rental meeting rooms, and the 4th floor is “Sakai Port Sauna,” a bathing facility with views of the Sakai Channel, passing ships, and the Sea of Japan. Towel rentals and items like razors are sold, so you can visit with minimal belongings. There’s also a sauna and jet bath, making it ideal for use during ferry waiting time. Discounts may apply depending on time/day, so it’s best to check in advance. Access: right next to JR Sakai Line “Sakaiminato Station.”
