Tsuyama Manabi Railway Museum
Tsuyama Manabi no Railway Museum is a railway museum operated by JR West and the Tsuyama Tourism Association. Although it opened in April 2016, it quickly became popular—surpassing 100,000 visitors by June 2017 (about 1 year and 2 months later). It’s very accessible, about a 10-minute walk from JR Tsuyama Station, and admission is reasonably priced, making it easy to drop in. Even if you think railway museums are only for hardcore fans, here you can learn about the history and mechanisms of railways that many people use every day, and enjoy the retro atmosphere of trains even if you don’t know model names. There is also a rare fan-shaped roundhouse, and the lineup of trains is very impressive. It’s enjoyable for train lovers and for everyone from small children to adults—highly recommended to visit.
