Haradani-en Garden

Haradani-en is a privately run garden and orchard located in Kita Ward, Kyoto, and is considered a hidden cherry blossom viewing spot. After World War II, the land was acquired for farming, but as crops did not grow well, various trees were planted instead. Over time, ornamental trees such as cherry blossoms and azaleas, as well as fruit trees including plum, peach, and chestnut, were added. The garden is home to a wide variety of cherry blossoms, including weeping cherry, Somei Yoshino, mountain cherry, yellow cherry, and Yōkihi cherry. In spring, camellias, plum blossoms, and pieris japonica bloom alongside the cherries, creating a colorful floral display. In recent years, the garden has also launched an online shop selling Kitayama cedar and cherry tree saplings. During cherry blossom season, the garden becomes extremely popular, but narrow access roads often cause traffic congestion. Visitors are strongly encouraged to use taxis, as local buses are essential for residents. During peak season, the on-site parking lot is reserved for taxi drop-off and pickup only, and private vehicles are not permitted.
