Ran Kyoto
RAN Kyoto is a venue in Shijo Kawaramachi, Kyoto, where you can enjoy live stage performances while sipping drinks. Opened in March 2017, it offers a relaxed atmosphere where guests can enjoy sake and local craft beer, with a stage program designed for everyone to enjoy regardless of nationality or age. The performances highlight Japanese music, from folk songs and traditional music passed down across Japan from Hokkaido to Okinawa to contemporary pieces played using traditional instruments such as the koto and shamisen. Show tickets cost 4,000 yen in advance and 4,500 yen on the day, and performances are held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in two sessions, with the first starting at 18:00 and the second at 20:00. The drink menu focuses on carefully selected Kyoto local sake, along with Kyoto craft beer and soft drinks. With traditional Japanese performing arts presented in a casual, approachable setting, it is especially popular with international tourists. From Kyoto’s busiest downtown area of Shijo Kawaramachi, head north along Shinkyogoku Street and turn right at the second street to find it just ahead.
