Kitagawa Village Monet's Garden Marmottan

Kitagawa Village Monet’s Garden Marmottan is a garden in Aki District, Kochi Prefecture. It recreates Claude Monet’s famous Giverny “Monet’s Garden” while incorporating Kitagawa Village’s local characteristics. It was completed under guidance from advisors connected to the original garden in France. In the Flower Garden, seasonal flowers bloom throughout the year, with features like rose arches and Norman-style hedging structures; the scene is filled with colorful blooms harmonizing with nature, creating landscapes that can be difficult to see in Japan. In the Water Garden, water lilies bloom, and you’ll find Monet-like scenes such as a drum bridge and rose arches. The Bordighera Garden also offers a Mediterranean-style garden harmonized with Japan, with beauty that moves viewers at every turn. The site includes a restaurant, bakery, gallery, and shop, and also sells flower seedlings. There are playgrounds and athletic equipment along the approach, making it enjoyable for children too. Activities like pressed-flower workshops are available, so you can spend a full day here. Access is about a 10-minute bus ride from Nahari Station on the Tosa Kuroshio Railway.
