Healthy Land Tamatebako Onsen

Healthyland Tamatebako Onsen is an open-air bath facility in Ibusuki City, Kagoshima Prefecture. The sea is right in front of you, and you can soak in the outdoor bath while looking at Kaimondake. There are Japanese-style and Western-style open-air baths: the Japanese-style bath lets you soak while viewing the ocean, while the Western-style bath faces the mountains. The men’s and women’s baths alternate depending on the day, so if you have a preferred bath, check in advance. Enjoying an open-air bath with a natural panorama of sky and sea offers an exceptional experience. From the Western-style bath you can see Mount Chikuzan, also called “Snoopy Mountain,” and it can be fun to imagine which part looks like Snoopy while you soak. Nearby there are also Yamagawa sand baths, a hot-spring health facility, and the restaurant ‘Jinetsu no Sato,’ making it a tourist spot you can enjoy for a full day. A free shuttle bus also runs between Tamatebako Onsen and the sand bath facility. Access: after getting off at JR Ibusuki Station, take a Kagoshima Kotsu bus and get off at ‘Healthyland Iriguchi’; it’s right there.
