Kusatsu Onsen BOUN
Kusatsu Onsen Boun is a long-established ryokan proud of its rhododendron garden and free-flowing baths embodying “spring-quality first” Kusatsu Onsen. It is in the center of Kusatsu Onsen and has a great location close to the Yubatake. Founded in Keicho 4, it has been loved by many literary figures and is also associated with Jippensha Ikku, famous as the author of “Tokaidochu Hizakurige.” It boasts six baths drawing from two Kusatsu sources, letting you fully enjoy Kusatsu’s famed waters. There are also rooms with open-air baths using the Sainokawara source. Meals feature local specialties and seasonal ingredients, and a thoughtful touch is that dishes are served in 4–5 rounds so that hot items are eaten hot and cold items cold. Guest rooms are mainly calm Japanese-style rooms, but there are also Western-style rooms with beds, letting guests who worry about getting up comfortably relax. Because it’s located in the center of town, it’s easy to stroll the hot spring streets, making it an ideal inn to enjoy Kusatsu travel at a relaxed pace along with onsen delights.
