Keisetsu no Yado Shobun is located in a mountain village beyond the Minakami Onsen town, where scenery of Mt. Tanigawa and the upstream Tone River headwaters spreads out. Within the tree-surrounded grounds that take on different moods each season, there are four highly private annex-style rooms reminiscent of villas, as well as main-house rooms with a charming old folk house atmosphere. Rooms include features such as maisonette layouts and some with private open-air baths. The onsen draws in the colorless, clear, gentle-feeling water of Mukoyama Onsen, called “Hoju no Yu,” and pours it into three baths. During use, guests hang a wooden tag as a sign, allowing the baths to be used privately (reservable/lockable) like a private bath. Meals are “Yamabito Ryori,” a local-style cuisine using abundant ingredients from nearby mountains and rivers and seasonal crops grown in surrounding fields, emphasizing the natural flavors of the ingredients.
