Grandia Housen
Grandia Housen is a hot spring ryokan in Awara City, Fukui Prefecture. With a wide array of dishes that let you fully savor Fukui’s famed Echizen crab and 33 guest rooms with private open-air baths, it offers a luxurious onsen getaway. The hot springs are especially well regarded: with three source springs and a large bath area featuring a cypress bath, reclining bath, pouring bath, sauna, cold bath, open-air terrace baths, the "Bihou" micro-bubble bath, and the "Sky" open-air bath, many guests say they can fully indulge and feel satisfied the moment they arrive. Day-use bathing is also available. In addition to casual spots such as the "Ashigaru-no-Yu" foot-friendly bath, the ryokan also has exclusive detached and annex suites—16 special rooms in total—where you can enjoy an elevated stay. With experiences like making hot spring eggs for free, light-up events, and spa treatments, it’s a place that can make you feel glad you came to Fukui even if you never leave the property. It also has a high repeat-visit rate, welcoming returning guests from both Japan and overseas. To get to Grandia Housen, it is about a 15-minute drive from JR Awaraonsen Station, and a shuttle is available if reserved in advance.
