タオル美術館
The Towel Museum is a towel-themed museum and shop operated by Ichihiro, a towel manufacturer in Imabari. Imabari towel production began in 1894 and accounts for roughly 60% of Japan’s domestic towel output, making it the country’s top production area. Imabari-made towels carry a logo designed by renowned creative director Kashiwa Sato. In the paid museum area, visitors can learn about the towel manufacturing process and see large-scale towel-based displays, including a giant Moomin made of towels and Kathy Mom patchwork quilts. A popular photo spot is the “”Cheese-wound Yarn Wall,”” where 1,800 threads dyed in about 200 colors fill an entire wall. The 3rd-floor shop sells towels produced at the company’s own factories in Imabari, China, and Vietnam, and there is an outlet section with discounted items. Paid name-embroidery services are also available on the 3rd floor. The garden terrace offers options like Iyo beef BBQ and succulent plants for purchase, and with cafés and a Chinese restaurant on-site, it can be a relaxing place to spend an entire day.
