Kiccho Udon Tachibana Str. Store
Kiccho Udon Tachibana-dori is a popular local udon shop chain in Miyazaki Prefecture, and this branch is one of about 10 locations. It is near the busy Tachibana-dori downtown area and within walking distance of Miyazaki Station. Kyushu-style udon—often said to trace its origins to this region—tends to be softer and fluffier than udon in many other parts of Japan. Because the noodles are less dense, the broth soaks in easily from the surface, letting you enjoy both dashi umami and wheat aroma. The menu is wide-ranging: kama udon, tanuki, egg udon, wakame, kitsune, kinpira, shrimp tempura, tororo, curry udon, and more. The recommended choice is “gobo-ten udon,” where the fragrant burdock and tempura batter pair perfectly with broth absorbed into the coating. It’s a self-service style shop, so it’s easy and casual. Don’t miss adding Kyushu-style green chili (aotogarashi) for extra flavor. Access: from JR Nichinan Line / JR Nippo Main Line “Miyazaki Station,” about a 15-minute walk (approx. 1 km). About 2 minutes on foot from the Miyazaki Kotsu bus stop “Department-mae (in front of MRT).” By car, about 12 minutes (approx. 5.5 km) from Miyazaki Expressway “Miyazaki IC” via Route 220.
