Heiwadai Park

Heiwadai Park is a relaxing park famous for its “Haniwa Garden,” which creates an ancient atmosphere. The walking paths around the pond and along the mountain foothills make excellent strolling routes. The nature-filled grounds include many athletic/play facilities, and relaxing on the lawn is also recommended. It’s a great place to take a break during sightseeing, and perfect for a picnic with lunch or snacks. Located on a hill in Miyazaki City, it’s also a popular spot for cherry blossoms in spring and autumn foliage, drawing many visitors in season. The park’s symbol, the 37-meter “Peace Tower,” includes an observation deck with panoramic views over Miyazaki City—an uncommon viewpoint in the area. Access: by public transportation, from JR Nichinan Line / JR Nippo Main Line “Miyazaki Station,” take a Miyazaki Kotsu bus from the East Exit bound for “Heiwadai Koen,” about 30 minutes to the last stop. By taxi, about 20 minutes from Miyazaki Station. By car, about 25 minutes (about 10 km) from Miyazaki Expressway “Miyazaki IC” via Route 220, or about 15 minutes (about 8 km) from the Miyazaki-nishi toll gate (NEXCO West).
