Sendai Station
Sendai Station is the gateway to Sendai, the largest city in Tohoku. Served by JR East, the Sendai Subway, and the Tohoku Shinkansen, it is the largest terminal station in the region. The station complex (4 floors above ground, 1 below) is packed with shopping, dining, hotels, and more. You can buy not only Miyagi souvenirs but also gifts from across Tohoku, plus a wide selection of famous ekiben. For food, head to the 3rd-floor “Gyutan Street” and “Sushi Street,” lined with long-established gyutan shops and famous sushi restaurants. The “Zunda Path” (Zunda Koji) is perfect for sampling sweet zunda treats. The west side connects to the city center, and the loop sightseeing bus “Loople Sendai” departs from the west exit bus terminal. The pedestrian deck connected to the west exit 2nd-floor concourse is known for its large scale and links to major stores—locals recommend using it to move around without traffic signals and with good views.
