Udon stupid generation
Udon Baka Ichidai is an udon restaurant in Takamatsu City, known for opening early and having a line as early as 6 a.m. It calls itself “Handmade 10th Dan,” and lines form every day regardless of weekdays or weekends—especially on holidays, when lines can form even at 3 or 4 a.m. During Golden Week, the line can loop all the way around the shop and still continue. It’s a self-service udon shop, so customers handle water, trays, toppings, and returning dishes themselves. The shop is famous on TV as the birthplace of “kama-butter” udon, but its regular kake udon is also recommended. The menu is extensive, so it’s a good idea to decide what you want while waiting in line. A characteristic of self-service shops is fast turnover, and customers are expected to move quickly as well—so even with a long line, it moves surprisingly fast. Access: 5 minutes on foot from Kotoden Hanazono Station and 10 minutes from Kawaramachi Station. There is a small dedicated parking area.
