Inaba Udon Mugendo Akita Ekimae Store
Inaniwa Udon Mugendo Akita Ekimae is an exotic, atmospheric restaurant located about a 3-minute walk from the JR Akita Station West Exit. Inside, a Dutch trading-post-style space themed in red welcomes you, with stained-glass lamps casting a warm glow and Akita’s edo-doro lantern paintings from Yuzawa City creating a dreamlike ambiance. The second floor also features private rooms with unique design touches. The restaurant’s No. 1 most popular menu item is the "Hinai Jidori Tsukemen," pairing rich, hot dipping broth packed with Hinai chicken umami and chilled noodles. Another well-liked dish is the junsai-and-duck tsukemen, which includes duck meat and junsai (Japanese water shield). Beyond udon, you can also savor a wide range of Akita flavors in one place, led by Hinai Jidori—one of Japan’s Three Great Native Chickens—along with the rare, "legendary" Akita-produced beef called Sanashi-gyu, eco-friendly Shoko-buta pork raised on feed made from Inaniwa udon offcuts, and hatahata (sandfish), Akita’s prefectural fish caught around Oga. You can also enjoy iburigakko made with Akita’s traditional "iburi" smoking method, kiritanpo nabe served with a soup made from 100% Hinai chicken bones, and Akita’s proud local sake—making this a highly tourism-oriented spot for experiencing Akita’s signature food culture. A sweets cafe called "Mugen Sabo" is also located in the same building, and it is a nice bonus that you can order desserts from Mugen Sabo alongside your meal.
