伊良湖岬
Irago Cape is a scenic cape in Tahara City, Aichi Prefecture, located at the tip of the Atsumi Peninsula where you can see both the Pacific Ocean and Mikawa Bay. The Irago Cape Lighthouse stands here and is selected as one of Japan’s "Top 50 Lighthouses." With its beautiful coastal views, many visitors capture the classic photo of sea, sky, and lighthouse before heading home. Large ships frequently pass close to the cape, adding to the atmosphere and making it a popular sightseeing destination. It is also known as a "Lovers’ Sanctuary," attracting many couples on dates. On the Pacific side, you’ll find Koiji-ga-hama Beach, chosen as one of Japan’s "100 Best Beaches." The area still retains abundant nature, and sea turtles also come to lay eggs here. Whales can often be spotted from land, and sightseeing boats also operate. Wherever you walk around Irago Cape, stunning views spread out in every direction, which is why it remains one of Aichi’s most beloved coastal tourism spots. Access to Irago Cape is about 90 minutes by bus from Toyohashi Station. You can also arrive by sightseeing boat or ferry, and traveling by sea can become a wonderful memory in itself.
