宗教法人妙厳寺 豊川稲荷
Toyokawa Inari is a temple located about a 5-minute walk from JR Toyokawa Station and Meitetsu Toyokawa Inari Station. Because of the name "Toyokawa Inari" and the presence of torii gates within the grounds, many people assume it is a Shinto shrine, but it is actually a Soto Zen Buddhist temple officially named "Enpukuzan Myogonji." It is one of Japan’s leading Inari sites, alongside Fushimi Inari in Kyoto and Kasama Inari in Ibaraki, and it welcomes around 5 million worshippers each year. The expansive grounds—larger than 2.5 Tokyo Domes—are dotted with more than 90 halls and pagodas, making it a highlight-filled place to explore beyond the main hall. Especially popular with visitors are two statues known as "Osasuri Daikokuten" located in front of Daikokudo. It is said that rubbing the statues while chanting a mantra brings blessings for improved financial luck, and many people stop by after paying their respects. Farther in, you’ll find a striking scene of 1,000 fox statues. Known as "Reiko-zuka," this spot is filled with fox figures wearing red bibs, offered in thanks for fulfilled prayers. With its mysterious, otherworldly atmosphere, it is also a popular photo spot.
