Huis Ten Bosch is Japan’s largest theme park, themed around “Flowers and Light,” and it covers an area about the same size as the Principality of Monaco. With a European-inspired atmosphere, Huis Ten Bosch feels like a beautiful city you can stroll through. Seasonal flowers bloom throughout the year, and gorgeous illuminations designed around the flowers are a major highlight. The best season is especially from spring to summer, when the park is at its most vibrant and colorful. In particular, the spectacular display of 1 million tulips—Japan’s largest—along with the Flower Festival filled with Asia’s largest roses, is a must-see. From autumn to winter, when the air is clear, the main attraction becomes the illumination event titled “Kingdom of Light,” featuring impressive works created with 13 million light bulbs. Access to Huis Ten Bosch by public transportation is about 1 hour 45 minutes from JR Hakata Station via the Limited Express “Huis Ten Bosch.” By highway bus, services operate from Nishitetsu Tenjin Express Bus Terminal, Hakata Bus Terminal, Fukuoka Airport, Kosoku Kiyama, and Nagasaki Airport. By car, exit the Nishi-Kyushu Expressway at “Imari Higashi Fuchu IC,” then travel via National Routes 202, 35, 205, 213, and 141. High-speed boats also operate from Nagasaki Airport.
