Yakitori no Meimon Akiyoshi - Fukui Station Square
Akiyoshi Fukui Ekimae is a yakitori restaurant in Fukui City, Fukui Prefecture. Yakitori is considered one of Fukui’s B-class gourmet favorites, and the original home of the renowned yakitori chain Akiyoshi—now with about 120 locations nationwide—is Fukui. Fukui is said to have Japan’s highest yakitori consumption, and among its many yakitori options, Akiyoshi is the most popular. The restaurant has 75 seats: 21 counter seats, 12 table seats, and 42 tatami seats, allowing different ways to enjoy your meal. Beyond a wide variety of tasty yakitori, the menu includes items like agedashi tofu, kushikatsu, and fried chicken. You can season dishes with five different sauces/condiments: skewer tare, mino tare, katsu tare, mustard, and garlic nanban. It’s welcoming for drinkers, non-drinkers, and families with children alike. A recommended item is "Junkei (salt)," made using only hens, but vegetables like shiitake mushrooms and green peppers are also popular. Only fresh ingredients skewered daily are used. To get to Akiyoshi Fukui Ekimae, it’s a 1-minute walk from JR Fukui Station; it’s located just across the main road in front of the station.
