Bankokuya

Yamagata Prefecture Atsumi Onsen Bankokuya is a long-established ryokan representing Atsumi Onsen, which has a thousand-year history. With the motto “Doing ordinary things with heartfelt kindness,” it has welcomed hot-spring travelers for more than 300 years. Its service, hot springs, and cuisine are highly rated, and it has continued to place for 40 consecutive years in the industry ranking “Professionals Choose Japan’s Top 100 Hotels & Ryokan,” conducted by a specialist travel newspaper with evaluations by travel-agency executives and others. Bankokuya’s proud hot springs include three distinct baths: the 1st-floor large open-air bath “Tori no Yu,” and the 3rd-floor indoor-bath-centered “Rakuzan” and “Rakusu.” Because men’s and women’s bathing areas switch by time slot, you can enjoy all of them during your stay. In the 1st-floor source-fed open-air bath, you can relax while enjoying seasonal scenery such as lush greenery swaying in the summer breeze or quietly falling snow in winter. Another popular feature is the food: dinner using luxurious seasonal ingredients from both sea and land in Yamagata, and a carefully made sea-bream rice (tai-meshi) breakfast with richly prepared dashi.
