Nashikkokan Pear Museum

Nashikko-kan (Tottori Prefectural Tottori Nijisseiki Pear Memorial Museum) is a museum dedicated to Tottori’s famous specialty, the Nijisseiki pear. The exhibits are so comprehensive that you could say, “If you visit Nashikko-kan, you can cover everything about Tottori pears.” Spread across two floors, highlights include: the Pear Story Theater, Pear Garden, a giant Nijisseiki pear tree, exhibits on how pears are grown, the Pear Kitchen, “Pears and People Around the World,” a pear art gallery, interactive play areas, a video learning room, and a kids’ corner—making it fun for both adults and children. “Pear-Making University” is a learning program where even beginners can study pear cultivation knowledge, attracting participants from across Japan. There’s also an on-site parlor where the most popular item is the “Nijisseiki Pear Soft-serve,” combining refreshing pear tartness with vanilla. The shop sells pear puree, juice, jams, jellies, and many other pear-based souvenirs—great for casual gifts. Access: by car, it’s described as about 3.5 hours from Yubara IC via Route 313, or about 1 hour from Innosho IC (Chugoku Expressway). By train, it’s about 10 minutes by car from JR San’in Main Line “Kurayoshi Station.” By bus from Kurayoshi Station, take the route toward Nishikurayoshi/Ikuta Shako/Hirose and get off at “Kurayoshi Park Square” or “Kurayoshi Park Square North Exit,” then walk about 5 minutes.
