Kurashiki Takataya

Kurakira Kurashiki Takadaya is an authentic charcoal yakitori restaurant where you can enjoy skewers grilled over charcoal. It is so popular that locally “everyone knows it,” and on weekends it’s said you may wait over an hour without a reservation. There is also an annex that can be used for banquets. The restaurant is committed to grilling each skewer carefully, and watching the chef work over the counter truly fits the word “artisan.” While yakitori is the main attraction, there are also hearty dishes like a garlic-flavored rice bowl, as well as beef tongue and pork shabu-shabu—foods that go well with alcohol. It’s about a 10-minute walk from Kurashiki Station. The exterior has a tasteful look that doesn’t disrupt Kurashiki’s townscape, and it may feel upscale at first, but the prices are not excessively high—more like average pricing. Given the quality yakitori, the cost-performance is excellent. Course reservations are also available, so if there’s a course that fits your occasion, consider booking it.
