Seto Long‐Bridge
The Seto Ohashi Bridge connects Kurashiki City in Okayama Prefecture with Sakaide City in Kagawa Prefecture and has a total length of 12,300 meters. Along the way, it is possible to reach three islands floating in the Seto Inland Sea: Yoshima, Iwakurojima, and Hitsuishijima. The strait portion is about 9,367 meters and is mostly over the sea, and it’s widely known as one of Japan’s top touring spots—motorcycle enthusiasts come from all over to enjoy the scenery and sea breeze. It’s also possible to cross the Seto Ohashi Bridge on foot, and on clear days the blue sky and transparent blue sea are said to be especially beautiful. The bridge also offers tours for school trips, field studies, and trainings, where you can receive an overview explanation and enjoy views from surrounding points. In addition, tours that allow you to climb the main tower are held, offering 360-degree views of the bridge and islands from a height of 175 meters; these are said to be held from April to November. (Note: Vehicles must pay a toll.)
