Rainbow Line Summit Park
Rainbow Line Summit Park is a park in Wakasa Town, Mikatakaminaka District, Fukui Prefecture. Spanning Mihama Town and Wakasa Town, it sits along a scenic tourist road within the Wakasa Bay Quasi-National Park, where you can drive toward the base of Mt. Baijo while enjoying views of the ria coastline and the Five Lakes of Mikata (Kukushi Lake, Hiruga Lake, Mikata Lake, Suigetsu Lake, Suga Lake). To reach Rainbow Line Summit Park, you pay the toll for the Mikata Goko Toll Road "Rainbow Line" (1,060 yen for standard cars), drive to the first parking lot, then go up by lift or cable car. A summit park ticket is also required; together with the cable car, it costs 900 yen for adults. In the park, you’ll find the "Sky Terrace" overlooking the Five Lakes, as well as Wago Shrine and the "Bell of Happiness," known as a Lovers’ Sanctuary. It’s said that if you pray at Wago Shrine and ring the bell, your love wish will come true. With unique souvenirs available only here, it’s popular among women wishing for romance and tourists who want to enjoy the Five Lakes scenery. To get to Rainbow Line Summit Park, it’s about a 20-minute drive from the Maizuru-Wakasa Expressway "Wakasa-Mikata IC."
