Chateraise Hakushu Factory

Chateraise Hakushu Factory is a sweets factory operated by Chateraise, located in the rich natural forests at the foot of the Southern Alps. Many of Chateraise’s sweets are produced here using abundant ‘Hakushu’s famous soft water,’ a water source selected as one of Japan’s ‘100 Exquisite Waters’ and also used for whiskey production. These sweets are shipped across Japan to brighten our tea time. Chateraise is well known for its ingredient-focused confectionery, making it a great option for small gifts. At the factory, you can view the production process through glass, including items like ice bars made with Hakushu water, sweet bean paste made with plenty of azuki beans from Hokkaido’s Tokachi plain, and sweets made with freshly squeezed milk delivered daily from local contracted farms. At the end of the tour, there is also the fun of factory-exclusive souvenirs. Access: by car, about 20 minutes (~15 km) from Chuo Expressway “Kobuchizawa IC,” or about 25 minutes (~15 km) from “Sudama IC.” By train, about 20 minutes by taxi from JR Chuo Main Line “Kobuchizawa Station.” Note: The hours field indicates it has been closed since March 1, 2020, with reopening date undecided.
