Takahata Winery
Takahata Winery is a winery established in 1990 in Takahata Town, Yamagata, with a large site of about 10,000 tsubo (approx. 33,000 m²). The grounds include a wine factory, shop, and vineyards, and visitors who wish can tour the wine factory. The shop carries not only local wines but also winery-exclusive label wines, as well as a variety of alcoholic beverages such as local sake and shochu. Wine tastings are offered regularly (about 5–6 varieties at any time), making it very popular with tourists seeking delicious wines and rare grape varieties. Snacks sold alongside the alcohol—such as Yonezawa beef salami, cheese, and sausages—are also well received. For those who don’t drink alcohol, a recommended treat is the winery’s classic soft-serve ice cream featuring a small amount of its premium signature wine “Mahoroba no Fujin.” Because it contains a little wine, drivers cannot eat it, but it’s popular among those who can’t drink and has been featured widely online and in magazines.
