Nishigawa Canal Park

Nishigawa Ryokudo Park is a park along an irrigation canal that starts about a 5-minute walk from Okayama Station and continues toward Yanagimachi. The long park path is called the “Green Corridor,” and the walkway—built over nine years—is said to stretch 2.4 km in total. On weekends, flea markets are often held, and local events and food stalls are set up regularly. Nearly 40,000 trees of around 100 varieties are planted along the canal, and the scenery changes by season: cherry blossoms in spring, lush greenery in summer, and autumn leaves in fall. Because it’s very close to JR Okayama Station and there are many hotels nearby, it’s also popular with tourists. On pleasant-weather days, people enjoy sitting on benches, eating, or taking photos. Since it’s also a walking route for local residents, please be mindful of manners during your visit.
