Kyoto International Conference Center
The Kyoto International Conference Center (KICC) is a major international convention facility located in the Takaragaike area of Kyoto. It opened in 1966 as Japan’s first national conference institution. The architecture blends modern design with elements reminiscent of gasshō-style construction, with a total floor area of about 45,000 square meters. The center is used for a wide range of purposes, including government and international-organization meetings, academic conferences, corporate events, exhibitions, and examinations, with venues sized to match different scales. Its AV systems are well equipped: sound, video, and simultaneous interpretation are fully digitized, and venues are connected by fiber-optic networks. The facility also includes approximately 30 guest rooms, as well as restaurants and cafés. A gift shop offers Japanese traditional crafts that are popular with overseas visitors. From Kyoto Station, it takes about 20 minutes by subway without transfers to reach Kokusaikaikan Station; using Exit 4-2, it is about a 5-minute walk to the conference center. The nearby Takaragaike Prince Hotel is convenient for lodging and dining.
