Kurama Onsen
Kurama Onsen is a hot spring lodging facility in the mountains of Kurama, Kyoto. As the only accommodation in the Kurama area, it offers a stay surrounded by nature. The hot spring is a naturally sourced simple hydrogen sulfide spring rich in minerals, and it is recognized for a wide range of benefits, including relief for neuralgia, rheumatism, diabetes, beautiful skin, and lower back pain. Day-use bathing is also available, priced at 2,500 yen for adults and 1,600 yen for children. Overnight stays are offered with two meals included, with rooms in traditional Japanese style, allowing guests to enjoy seasonal cuisine along with the hot spring. The facility can also be used for dining only, and welcomes lunch visits, gatherings, and banquets. From Kyoto Station to Kurama Station on the Eizan Railway takes about 1 to 1.5 hours by train connections. A free shuttle bus runs from Kurama Station to the inn in about 3 minutes, and it is also about a 10-minute walk. To reach Kurama-dera from the inn, you will first return to Kurama Station and then head onward. Because many people wish to stay during the Kurama Fire Festival held every year on October 22, reservations for that period are decided by lottery. The lottery is held at the end of June, and applications must be made by phone before then.
