Kumamoto City Tramway
The Kumamoto City Tram is a streetcar system running through Kumamoto City. Many cars are wrapped in colorful advertisements, giving the city a nostalgic yet modern feel. There are five lines and two operating routes, connecting major sightseeing spots in Kumamoto. The fare is flat no matter how far you ride, making it simple, convenient, and popular. A one-day pass for tourists is also available for 500 yen (adult), and it can provide discounts at some attractions. It can be purchased at the general tourist information center at Kumamoto Station. Even just staying on the tram can take you around many key sights; when you want to get off, the next tram arrives soon, making it indispensable for Kumamoto sightseeing. In winter, some cars are illuminated with full-vehicle light decorations, and spotting one is said to be lucky. To ride, board at any stop; the starting terminal is Kumamoto Station.
