Udon Market Hyogomachi

Udon Ichiba Hyogo-machi Branch is an udon shop in Hyogo-machi Shopping Street in Takamatsu City. Despite being in the shopping arcade, it’s an easy, self-service shop where you can eat a small kake udon for 150 yen. The menu is extensive, with many tempura options and set menus, making it popular with nearby office workers and tourists. At the storefront facing the arcade, you’re greeted by a steaming bowl monument. As a community-based shop, it offers a very complete Sanuki udon experience. The carefully made noodles are firm yet smooth. In addition to udon, they also serve honetsukidori (bone-in chicken). You can add rice bowls or honetsukidori for a hearty meal, and the overall satisfaction is high. While udon can be less filling because it’s wheat-based, Udon Ichiba’s udon is said to be more satisfying, with a dense, substantial feel. Access is about an 8-minute walk from JR Takamatsu Station: head south on Chuo-dori, then turn into the Hyogo-machi arcade and it’s right there.
