Michi-no-Eki Tendo Onsen

Roadside Station Tendo Onsen (Michi-no-Eki Tendo Onsen) is located about a 15-minute walk from Tendo Station. From the “Tendo Station-mae” stop, take a bus, get off at “Wakuwaku Land,” then walk about 5 minutes. “Wakuwaku Land” is the nickname of this roadside station. Loved by many people, it features a free footbath shaped like a shogi piece, used by tourists and locals alike. Inside, there is a shop called “Sunpure” that carries Yamagata specialties and local products; it’s lively with people looking for souvenirs. Large, affordable La France pears are especially popular. In the plaza there are playground structures such as slides, and you can often see children playing while adults stroll or jog. After relaxing, it’s recommended to visit the gelato shop inside the Tendo City Forest Information Center “Moriina Tendo.” Their handmade gelato using seasonal fruits and plenty of the local specialty “Tsuyahime” rice is very popular with both adults and children.
