Miyake Shoten

Miyake Shoten is a hugely popular café representing the Kurashiki area. It opened as a café after renovating a traditional townhouse (machiya), which is characteristic of Kurashiki’s streetscape. While it’s a stylish café space, it also offers course plans for various occasions such as welcome/farewell parties, year-end parties, birthday gatherings, and girls’ nights, catering to a wide range of needs from tourists to local residents. The signature “Miyake Curry” is outstanding. There is also a lunch set where you can enjoy both Miyake Curry and cake, which is great for people who want both a meal and sweets. Another extremely popular item is the parfait, which is reputed to rank among the top in Okayama Prefecture—highly recommended to order. If you come by car, note that there is no dedicated parking, so check nearby parking lots via the website before visiting. Some people reportedly park on the street, but that inconveniences locals, so please be sure to use a proper parking lot.
