Nara Prefectural Office

The Nara Prefectural Government Office is an administrative facility of Nara Prefecture located in Nara City. A recommended highlight is the rooftop plaza, accessible by taking the elevator on the left after entering the main entrance. From here, you can enjoy a spectacular 360-degree panoramic view—one of the best spots to take in Nara’s scenery. The observation area offers an even wider view, and binoculars are available for free use. The rooftop space is landscaped with lawn and shrubs and is equipped with benches and vending machines, making it a pleasant place to take a break. It is about a 5-minute walk from Kintetsu Nara Station and about a 20-minute walk from JR Nara Station; it’s a great stop during a stroll to rest and enjoy one of Nara’s rare panoramic viewpoints. The building also has a convenience store and a cafeteria, where you can dine while looking out over Nara Park, making it a convenient stop during sightseeing. For visitors with children, nursing rooms are available: one lockable private room each on the 1st and 2nd floors of the East Wing, and multipurpose restrooms on each floor. The 1st-floor nursing room is equipped with a hot-water dispenser, diaper-changing bed, sink, and chairs, so you can visit with peace of mind.
