Mt. Yoshino

Yoshino Mountain refers to a broad area of ridge-like mountains stretching about eight kilometers from the southern bank of the Yoshino River toward the Omine Mountain Range in Yoshino Town, Nara Prefecture. It is famous for having been visited by Toyotomi Hideyoshi for cherry-blossom viewing and remains extremely popular during sakura season. Access is via Kintetsu Yoshino Line Yoshino Station, followed by the Yoshino Ropeway from Senbon-guchi Station near Yoshino Station. Alternatively, visitors can walk up the slope known as Nanamagari, reaching Yoshinoyama Station in about 30 minutes. Yoshino Mountain is listed among Japan’s Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots and is also celebrated in classical poetry for its snowy scenery. The area is rich in temples and shrines, including the World Heritage–listed Kinpusen-ji Temple, Yoshimizu Shrine, Yoshino Mikumari Shrine, and Kinpu Shrine. In recent years, forest therapy roads with scientifically proven relaxation benefits have been developed, making Yoshino a popular healing power spot.
