Kagoshima Airport Natural Hot Spring Footbath Finally
Kagoshima Airport Natural Hot Spring Footbath “Oyattosaa” is a footbath inside Kagoshima Airport. “Oyattosaa” is Kagoshima dialect for “Thanks for your hard work.” It was created to promote Kagoshima as a hot-spring kingdom, and is said to be Japan’s first hot spring footbath inside an airport. It’s not just ankle-deep—you can soak fairly high up the calves. If you don’t have a towel, an “Oyattosaa” original towel is sold for 200 yen; it’s a cute design and makes a nice souvenir. The footbath is built with wood and stone and is popular even among locals, with many visitors every day—something of a hidden popular spot. It’s also designed to be accessible for wheelchair users, and the large footbath is often occupied. Visiting on arrival and again before departure helps enhance the feeling of being in Kagoshima. Access: 38 minutes by direct bus from Kagoshima-Chuo Station to Kagoshima Airport.
