霧の森菓子工房 松山店

Kirinomori Kashikobo Matsuyama Store is a sweets shop located in the Matsuyama Ropeway Shopping Street, which runs from near the Iyotetsu tram “”Okaido”” stop toward the Ropeway Higashi-Shinonomeguchi station building. The shop specializes in desserts made with Shingu Tea, a local specialty from Shingu-cho in Shikokuchuo City. Its most popular item is “”Kirinomori Daifuku,”” made with kabuse matcha produced in Shingu-cho. Kabuse matcha is grown by shading tea plants from sunlight for about 10 days before harvest, resulting in less bitterness and more umami than typical matcha. Unlike standard daifuku (sweet bean paste wrapped in mochi), Kirinomori Daifuku also contains fresh cream inside the bean paste, creating a balance between sweetness and the matcha’s pleasant astringency. It can sell out early in the morning, so visitors who want it are advised to arrive around opening time. The shop also offers many other Shingu-tea sweets such as soft-serve ice cream, roll cake, and fondant chocolate, making it a great stop when visiting Matsuyama Castle.
