道後麦酒館
Dogo Beer Hall is operated by Minakuchi Shuzo, a brewery founded in 1895. Here you can enjoy a variety of alcoholic drinks produced by Minakuchi, including the local craft beer “”Dogo Beer,”” as well as “”Dogo Shochu,”” “”Seishu Nikitatsu,”” and “”Dogo Ale.”” For non-drinkers, soft drinks such as “”Dogo Cider”” are also available. The food menu features many Ehime specialties that pair well with drinks, including “”senzanki”” (fried chicken) and Imabari-style teppanyaki dishes. There are four types of Dogo Beer, each with a nickname: “”Bocchan Beer,”” “”Madonna Beer,”” “”Soseki Beer,”” and “”Nobosan Beer,”” referencing characters and figures connected to Matsuyama—Bocchan is the protagonist of Natsume Soseki’s novel set in Matsuyama, Madonna is the woman he admires, and Nobosan is Soseki’s friend, the Matsuyama-born haiku poet Masaoka Shiki. With counter seating available, it’s easy to drop in solo, and its location near Dogo Onsen Honkan makes it a great post-bath stop.
