Yonago Castle Ruins
Yonago Castle Ruins are the remains of a famed castle that once had a four-story, five-tiered keep and was considered the finest in the San’in region. Although the keep no longer exists, the remaining stone walls still convey the castle’s former prosperity. The site offers a 360-degree grand panorama—views stretch across Yonago City all the way to the Sea of Japan’s horizon. It’s also beloved by locals as a cherry-blossom spot in spring. Around the ruins, a walk through the seasons—spring, summer, autumn, winter—is recommended, with many flowers and plants to enjoy. The area is also home to some nationally rare plant species due to local conditions, making it especially appealing for plant enthusiasts. Access: from JR San’in Main Line “Yonago Station,” about 15 minutes on foot. By bus, take the “Dandan Bus” from Yonago Station, get off at “Minatoyama Park,” then walk about 5 minutes. From the trailhead, it’s about 20 minutes to the summit.
