Airplane Park
Airplane Park is a park inside Miyazaki Bougainvillea Airport, opened to commemorate the airport’s 50th anniversary. On display is a training aircraft from the Civil Aviation College nicknamed “Lucky Girl,” which survived the tsunami of the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake (seven other training aircraft were unfortunately washed away). The exhibited aircraft is a Beechcraft C90A King Air. Visitors can tour the cockpit and also take commemorative photos wearing pilot or flight attendant uniforms. Cockpit entry and uniform experiences are generally intended for children up to middle school age, but adults may be able to participate if it’s not crowded. At night, the area is illuminated, adding to the excitement. Access: located within the Miyazaki Bougainvillea Airport observation deck area. By car, about 50 minutes from JR Miyazaki Station via Hitotsuba Toll Road and Route 220. By public transportation, buses operate to the airport from various areas including Saito, Seagaia, Kobayashi, Miyakonojo, and Nichinan (Obi). The JR Nippo Main Line and Miyazaki Airport Line also connect from JR Miyazaki Station and from Nobeoka/Oita directions.
