活动详细内容

Explore the oldest Hanamachi in Kyoto, Kamishichiken, on a guided tour. Visit the Kitano Tenmangu Shrine, and try your hand at the authentic Nishijin weaving. Then, stroll through the streets of Kamishichiken, and learn about the history of the area from your guide.

Start your tour with a visit to Kitano Tenmangu, the guardian shrine of the area. Pay your respects at the shrine and see the many important cultural assets and national treasures, like the main worship hall. Be captivated by the seasonal scenery of the shrine grounds.

Then you will have a chance to learn the basics of 4000 years old Tsuzure-ori weaving, the world's oldest patterned textile and the oldest Nishijin textile technique. Choose an item from the available selection and make your own, using the traditional techniques. Create a one-of-a-kind work of art under the guidance of a traditional craftsman in a real workshop.

Stroll through the streets of Kamishichiken, a town that retains its history. Follow your guide to places in Kamishichiken that are associated with local geiko and maiko. Know every nook and cranny of this 400-meter street lined with townhouses with traditional latticework.
