Sengokuhara

Sengokuhara is a highland resort area in Hakone where you can enjoy both nature and art. Its most iconic natural attraction is the pampas grass field (Susuki Grassland), which has been selected as one of the “Kanagawa Scenic 50.” The landscape is especially striking in autumn when the entire field turns golden, but there are also seasonal highlights such as fresh green scenery in spring and the controlled field burning held in March. You can also experience rich nature at nearby spots such as the Sengokuhara Marsh and the Hakone Wetlands Botanical Garden, which collects rare plants found in wetland environments. The area is also known for its many museums, including the Hakone Lalique Museum, the Pola Museum of Art, The Little Prince Museum, and the Hakone Venetian Glass Museum. Some museums feature cafe restaurants and hands-on art workshops, so consider combining those while touring. If you visit Sengokuhara, it’s recommended to get off at “Sengoku Annai-sho Mae” (Sengoku Information Center) via the Hakone Tozan Bus or the Sightseeing Facility Tour Bus, and stop by the information center first.
