Akita Furusato Village

Akita Furusato-mura is an amusement park in Yokote, Akita Prefecture, located right next to the Yokote IC, with a grounds area said to be about the size of four Tokyo Domes. With abundant greenery and nature, you can enjoy outdoor sculptures, spread out a picnic on the lawn, and spend a relaxing day while soaking in the natural setting. Because all facilities are connected by covered corridors, this all-weather amusement park lets you have fun without getting wet even on rainy days. The park is divided into five areas: kids’ activities, hands-on activities, viewing/exhibition facilities, shopping, and dining. In the kids’ activities area, highlights include Spacia, the Starry Sky Exploration Hall featuring one of Tohoku’s largest planetariums with a 23-meter diameter, and Wonder Castle packed with trick art, wooden playground equipment, indoor athletics, and a huge ball pool—making it easy to stay entertained from opening to closing time. Hands-on activities let you enjoy Akita’s traditional crafts in a fun way, from shippo-yaki cloisonne to porcelain painting and unglazed doll painting, appealing to everyone from small children to adults. The viewing facilities include a sculpture plaza and craft exhibition hall, plus the Akita Museum of Modern Art, which opened on the grounds in 1994 and collects and exhibits outstanding works from the modern era onward, including Akita Ranga—Western-style painting actively produced by Akita domain lords and retainers in the mid to late Edo period. For shopping, the souvenir market is one of the largest in Akita Prefecture, with about 10,000 items, offering virtually anything Akita has to offer. In the "Furusato Ryori-kan" featuring local cuisine, you will also find the Inaniwa udon specialist Sato Yosuke, a renowned shop with a history spanning 160 years.
