Atrion Building
Atrion (Akita Comprehensive Living and Culture Hall & Art Museum) is a multi-use complex with 2 basement floors and 12 floors above ground. Inside, you will find a wide range of facilities, including the Akita City Senshu Museum of Art, Akita Prefecture’s art exhibition hall, Sapporo Kani Honke Akita, Regal Shoes Akita, and the Atrion music hall facility—known for its soft acoustics created by extensive Akita cedar paneling. Among these, one of the most recommended highlights for tourism is the Akita Prefectural Products Plaza. Here you can find an impressive selection of Akita souvenirs, including traditional magewappa bentwood craft items and kabazaiku cherry-bark work, and it would be no exaggeration to say that most of Akita’s representative specialties are covered in one place. Unlike souvenir corners inside Akita Station, checkout is handled at a single register, making shopping easy. There is also a shipping counter, so after paying you can simply leave your basket there and the staff will pack everything neatly for delivery. Trendy sweets and snacks change over time, but at the Akita Prefectural Products Plaza you can keep up with what is currently popular in Akita. Located just steps from Senshu Park, the complex also has a free rest area on the 1st floor, making it a handy break spot while sightseeing around Akita City. Another must-see is the Atrion’s symbol, the "Music Clock," displayed in the atrium’s open, airy entrance space. Access to Atrion is about a 5-minute walk from JR Akita Station West Exit.
