Kawaguchiko Ohashi Bridge
Kawaguchiko Ohashi Bridge is a bridge spanning Lake Kawaguchi on Prefectural Route 707 (Kawaguchiko–Fuji Line), built in 1971. The overall length is about 1.6 km, and the bridge portion is about 500 meters. It is the only bridge that crosses over the water among the Fuji Five Lakes. Because there are no obstructions around it, you can enjoy a sweeping panorama of Lake Kawaguchi and Mt. Fuji. It has also been selected as one of the “100 Best Roads in Japan” for its outstanding scenery. The best way to enjoy it is to cross on foot: on a clear day, walking the bridge while taking in Mt. Fuji’s grandeur is highly recommended. If walking, be very careful of traffic and do not step into the roadway while taking photos—this bridge also functions as a bypass, and many cars drive at considerable speed. Access: about a 20-minute walk from Fujikyu Railway “Kawaguchiko Station.” By car: from Chuo Expressway Kawaguchiko IC, head toward Lake Motosu on Route 139, turn right at the Higashikoiji intersection, and go straight about 2 km.
