Wakakusa no Yado Maruei
Wakakusa no Yado Maruei (Fuji Kawaguchiko Onsenkyo) is a traditional Japanese inn rich in “wa” atmosphere, set by Lake Kawaguchi at the foot of Mt. Fuji. Guest rooms let you choose from a variety of options based on budget and purpose; rooms are generally Japanese-style, though there are also Japanese-style rooms with beds. The inn’s signature is its cuisine: carefully selected seasonal local ingredients prepared into kaiseki meals, well regarded even locally. It’s sometimes called “Maruei of cuisine” in the area. Beyond kaiseki, local Koshu specialties like “abalone simmered in its shell” and the inn’s handmade hamburger steak are also popular. Access: by car, exit at Kawaguchiko IC via Fuji Five Lakes Road from Otsuki IC, about 10 minutes. By train: Shinjuku → JR Chuo Line to Otsuki → transfer to Fujikyu Railway to Kawaguchiko Station. A free pickup shuttle is available between 14:00–19:00 if you contact the hotel; pickup takes about 10 minutes. After checkout, drop-off to Kawaguchiko Station is also available 8:00–11:00 at 30-minute intervals.
